VIGIL- The RFID Surveillance System
Introduction
VIGIL is a state of the art visitor management and tracking solution for enterprises, IT parks, hotels using active RFID technology. Visitor management is often not paid so much attention even in today's heightened security levels around the world. Lately, companies , IT parks have started recording visitors to the premises either by maintaining records on plain paper sheet or by using some sort of home grown web/or standalone software utility. One thing which is still not happening is tracking of visitor inside the premise, visitor is generally let-in, but no record is kept for the places he/she visits inside the premises. This could be a big security threat.
Solution
Our web-based VIGIL Management tool essentially attacks this vulnerability and gives enterprises real time view of their visitors with actionable data and alerts on violations. Following are some of the key features of this solution:
- General Visitor management - record sign-in, sign-out time and other data to be used for reporting purposes.
- Dashboard view (Grid view location wise, similar to Video Surveillance Grid view) to constantly monitor location of visitors
- Rule based sign-in process for visitor allowing setting time limit and location limit for visitors visit.
- Real time alerts for time-limit and location-limit violations, trigger SMS and/or emails on violations.
- Reporting engine to generate reports like "Most frequent visitor", "Violations report", "Visitor Report for every day".
VIGIL uses active RFID technology to locate visitors inside the premises. Following process/infrastructure is needed to track visitors inside the office premises:
- Identify sensitive and vulnerable areas inside the premises
- Install Active RFID Readers/Transponders in the selected areas
- Issue RFID chip enabled badge to visitors instead of plain paper tags.
